I love starting my blogs with a little background about myself. Reflections, if you will, of gratitude, about how I got to this point. The main thing that comes to mind is my recent quest to promote my photography business to attract growth. It wasn’t always a thing. I was actually usually always shy and a little embarrassed, never wanting to be taken as boastful or self centered. I almost wanted people to somehow find out I was a photographer by their own means (through indirect inception) and let them, on their own, get mind blown about how amazing, and Humble for not bragging about my talents, I was . ;)
Like most situations in life, this sort of marketing, or lack of, doesn’t really work if you’re looking to expand and grow your service. At best, it may produce results at a glacial pace. If you’re going to want your business to grow, networking/marketing is essential.
I’ve noticed the increase in word of mouth referrals since I’ve decided to be more present and less discreet about my hustle. It’s even from people that I’ve never worked with, but that I’ve made great connections with and presented myself as a photographer to. That’s how I met the ladies of PMS Box. A Facebook inquiry, that led to a post-forward from a coworker/friend of mine, that resulted in me replying to it, and then the rest is history.
Damla, the COO of the company reached out to me. The one thing that was undeniable was her excitement about being a part of such an awesome startup. Her energy made wanting to be a part of this movement an easy decision. Being that it was a company that was in its infancy stage (2wks old) and already they were seeing interest and growth, made pursuing the venture beyond its startup realm a very attractive feat. Their current mission, establish a core team! And every company needs a photographer. Or three.

My Recent Photographic adventure had me in Tijuana, Mexico. I was booked to go take photos at a Baby Shower there. I had never been to Mexico before so I was naturally kind of excited, like any normal person visiting a new place would be. However I also knew it was strictly a work trip and not really a pleasure one, so it was quick.....(if you exclude the border crossing back into the US....cuz that took FOREVER)
I met Jessica, the mommy to be, through my parents. She's younger than me, but her and my mom are besties. She has that sort of grown-ass woman vibe, but still charismatic and nice. That's one of the main things I couldn't help but notice when I was in Mexico; the kids there acted so much older than they were. I still don't really know how to articulate what i'm referring to in words quite well, but in comparison to kids here in the US, whom we shelter and try our hardest to protect their innocence, so much so that we baby them maybe too much, the kids in Mexico seemed a little more astute. There's less censoring. Parents talk vulgarly and openly and honestly around their kids. Not judging negatively here, so I hope it doesn't get taken out of context, because I found some of that quite positive in a way. It calls for kids to grow up to be a little more alert, hard working, and independent. They seem to be less affected by the harshness of the realities of life. Of course, my viewpoint is very limited, and in no means am I trying to weigh in heavy on Mexico's Socio-economics with my opinions, but it was definitely a feeling and observation that stuck out.
Once a month, DJ SCOTTYBOY puts on this SiCk Brunch party in DTLA at PRANK. Prank is the a unique walk up cocktail Bar in the heart of the city. Its chic, its down to earth, its fun, and the food and drinks are top notch quality. I was summoned to come capture the festivities one fateful Sunday afternoon. I'm one of the lucky few that get to call this work. I'd be lying, however, if I said it felt like work. Its a good time and I get paid to be a part of it. Here are some more photos.
Visit their Facebook Page for more info on Upcoming dates for their epic monthly Brunch parties! Make sure that you get there early. Its always super poppin!
I've Always considered myself a DRAG HAG. I'm fascinated by the artistry that goes into creating the feminine illusion. My buddy Nicholas Keller is a stylist in LA, that recently committed his creative vision to pursuing his drag alter ego; Indica Sativa. I was there to capture the first looks into Indica, and kept coming back to revel in the evolution of it. We recently did a very impromptu photo-shoot for promotional purposes. He's pretty busy booking performances all around the greater Los Angeles area, so he needed photos to send to the venues and content creators of events he participates in. This is a quick look at our set.
I'm always trying to do my best to stay available for really neat projects that may arise. Amanda September is a singer songwriter that I've not only worked with in the past, but we actually know each other because we went to high school together! I remember we used to take the School Bus back home in the afternoon when we lived like 2 apt buildings from each other! After high school and through college, I lost track of most of my friends. If it wasn't for the likes of Facebook, I'm sure reconnecting would be pretty impossible. Needless to say, this little beau began developing her artistic, creative game and is now on a fast track to establishing herself as a musical influencer.
Matthew Emery, or,Spin Maddox, as they call him in the industry, was recently approved for a Spotify artist profile. Accomplishments like that require a celebratory photoshoot with yours truly!
I met Matt a few years back when working as a PA on a short film that he got called to direct last minute, mid production! The Original director did not have a grasp on his job title, so producers called Matt to come and save the day. Nowadays you have to do it all, and have done it all, to really hone in on what you want to pursue. When it comes to Hollywood, it's no different. The benefits are exactly what you would think. Networking! How else would you have the PA Gaffer taking promotional shots for a once director now releasing a musical album!
Homeless Health Care of Los Angeles is always finding ways to bring awareness to the topic of Opioid Overdoses and how to prevent or treat them. A situation that seems to be increasing and predominant amongst the homeless community in and around Los Angeles. HHCLA hosted a one of a kind art gallery exhibition, live music, dinner and a recognition ceremony at Space Camp 30, a few steps away from HHCLA's Skid Row location. Below are photos of the afternoon/evening.
Volunteers gather for the initial pep talk prior to event opening its doors.

Attendees participate in the visual art installation in the center of the outdoor venue. A grid of the greater Los Angeles Area with each little red puck representing a life saved through NARCAN, a reversal medication used to prevent opioid overdose.

Such a great turnout that evening. People were recognized for their valiant efforts to combat poverty in the cities of LA. I hope you've enjoyed my little stroll down memory lane. But alas, off to bed. SAYONARA, DASVEDANIA, Goughtentav.
I had the pleasure of meeting them while they helped coordinate and plan parties for one of the gyms I work and teach at! It would be an understatement to say that these people are cool and kind......ugh. The most down to earth, caring, and generous souls you will probably ever encounter! And they're also not bad to look at! Quite the power couple if I may.
About a month back i started working with them to capture the essence of their events! Usually always laced in Chic-ness and elegance, our collab has been a marvelous one! Krystal's attention to detail with her design elements, to John's charisma on ground zero of the events, make for a tag team that snags the hearts of many. I love working with people that love what they do! It's inspiring and holds me accountable to bring to the table just as much passion and talent!

HOLIDAY CASINO NIGHT
Of course, with the holidays among us, we can't forget how busy they probably get with so many parties taking place around town! Part of their production specialty involves the creation of Unique Christmas Trees! Last I knew they were up to 10 Christmas trees!! Oh, and not your ordinary trees, like HUGE trees!! 20 footers that they have to im sure install and dress. Crazy thing is, theres that window of about a week where everyone wants their tree to go up. Since we haven't yet, as a human species, discovered the ability to successfully clone or teleport, you can imagine the craziness that these two deal with trying to get all these decorations in place! Luckily, they have an amazing team and support system that allows them to go above and beyond to complete these projects with such grace!
Food was again pretty exceptional. Open bar, my kind of party! For a good two hours, you were easily transported to the front lines of a casino in vegas, with the bedazzled, sequined server outfits, feathered ornaments, chips and dice! Strangers became friends, friends became....well, friendlier, and I got to take it all in with my lenses! here's a few more shots of that night!
Poise, power, and Sexiness are just three of the many elements that are married beautifully in Nicole Rush's DNA. Her trajectory in fitness and health is extensive. I've had the priviledge of working alongside her as a fellow Spin and Yoga instructor at YAS in Downtown LA. This woman spearheads her own style of workout that she cleverly refers to as the SEXY FIT WORKOUT, or SEXY FIT METHOD. From the workouts themselves, to the choices you will make about diet and excercise, she guides and empowers you to achieve your Inner Sexy. All year long she motivates people to achieve their full potential while simultaneously tackling her own fitness regime. We often forget as students or trainees, that the instructors need their own training as well!
Check out some of the magic we got to create with these ladies...and gentleman! Michael Marinola is a staple at these Sexy Fit gatherings! Gender is no boundry! Rush urges everyone to tap into that Sexy that lives in each of us! I got to dance and learn some of the moves myself after shooting....I'm not as good as the rest of the gang tho! :)
Now in its third year of celebration, West Hollywood's Own Pacific Design Center was the scene for this year's Friend Movement 'Stardust Soiree' Gala. All the honorees and guests convened inside of Industry Gallery to recognize the hard work and dedication set forth by the friend family, and to continue to celebrate and spread the word about friendship!
Friend Movement prides itself on the support it receives from artists and entrepreneurs who pay it forward while on the pursuit of their own goals and dreams! Many will proudly admit that, through friendship and the support shown by their peers, they were able to get to where they are now. One of those friends happens to be none other than Will Mochon, the recipient of the evening's coveted "Thank You For Being A Friend" Award. Dealing with the recent passing of his parents, Will reminds us how it is the friendship and love he is shown that keeps him going. He reciprocates that friendly embrace by giving back to his community. Mr. Mochon is active with GLSEN and Trevor Project where he helps people of all walks of life, young and old, deal with their struggles. He takes on so much and gives back so much despite his own personal becomings. Never complaining, and always embodying the true character of friendship in his work and life, it is no wonder Friend Movement picked him as the next in line for this honorable award! This evening's Soiree is dedicated to his parents who are "looking down at their boy, proud!" (-Eddie Lobo)
Documenting the Insanity of the Obvious!! :) Welcome to my photography blog. Will attempt to fill you in on all of the fun and excitement that AUGUSTUS is being exposed to!
